Medical Construction
Schertz Medical Office Building
Kopplow Construction was selected as the competitive bid winner for the Schertz Medical Office Building in 2022. Our experience providing high-quality pre-planning and construction services helped get the project finished under budget and within the timeline.
Development of Construction Site
The Schertz Medical Office Building is a 53,000 square foot, two-story medical office located off of IH-35 and Schertz Parkway. Kopplow was hired to construct the shell and core of the building along with the sitework, paving, landscaping and irrigation. The building method and material were tilt-wall construction with stone and ACM panel accents. Designed to host multiple tenants, one of which is the Baptist Medical Network (BMN), Kopplow worked with the building owners and architects to make their design a reality.
Challenges
Throughout the development of the Schertz Medical Office, Kopplow experienced an issue that challenged them to facilitate structural modifications to allow for future construction and installation of MRI equipment on the 2nd floor. Kopplow made accommodations to bring the MRI equipment into the building despite it needing to happen after substantial completion and occupancy of tenants. The tilt wall panel design used was modified to allow easy removal of a window and partial panel removal to provide an opening large enough to place equipment on the 2nd floor from the exterior of the building.
